SERVPRO Of NW Bakersfield was called out for a fire caused by a Molotov cocktail bomb that was thrown through the window of an office where the fire started in, this caused fire and soot damage to some offices.Technicians detected high levels of moisture on the wall and carpet, therefore proper equipment was set up. Then they laid down red rosin paper in order to minimize the soot being tracked throughout the office. After, technicians set up equipment to start the cleaning process along with an air scrubber that was set up to eliminate the smoke odor. The cleaning crew cleaned all the light fixtures and all contents. They were all wiped down and the bulbs as well after they were taken off. Technicians removed all the charred materials, ceiling tile and insulation, along with all affected materials. A containment was set up to minimize the amount of dust in the room during demolition. This was a roof leak that SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield was called out. Upon technicians arrival homeowner stated that intrusion was coming in from roof leak which was causing damage to one of the bedroom ceiling. Homeowner said, she noticed a drip and she put a bucket to catch the water avoiding damage on the carpet. Our technicians tarped the damaged roof about 200sq ft using 6 mil plastic, wood sticks and sand bags . Also performed a moisture inspection and found high levels of moisture in one bedroom on ceiling. No flooring was affected. After, technicians set up drying equipment to start the drying process.

This was a water damage in town that SERVPRO Of NW Bakersfield was called out to perform emergency services. When technicians arrived The homeowner stated that the night before his wife woke up around 2:00 am. As she got out of bed she stepped on the carpet and felt it completely wet. While looking for the source he noticed that every room is affected and there is standing water throughout the home. Insured not knowing what to do or where to start he contacts The res-ponders and they informed him to shut off main water valve. After customer called around for help he had a carpet cleaning company extract the standing water, without knowing we perform water extraction and that its the first thing we do when there is standing water. The loss affected the entire home except kitchen and nook area. 4 bedrooms 2 hallways 2 bathrooms garage and living room were affected. We let homeowner know they are always welcome to call us and ask us any questions they need to know in case they ever have another emergency. Our customers were happy with our work and will keep us in mind!

This was a commercial restaurant that resulted as a fire and water damage. As you can see in this photo the ceiling caved in along with wet insulation. Our customer's items, furniture, documents, food supply and many more were damaged by the loss. We took care of cleaning the debris and removing any affected material that needed to be removed. Our customer is very happy with our work that he even wanted us to do the repairs as well. This was a storm damage to the homeowners roof which made the ceiling inside of their home to cave in. As seen in the photo our technician is checking for moisture all around the affected area. This is a before photo upon technicians arrival on a stormy afternoon weekend. The technicians tarped the roof and made it secure enough for the heavy winds not to blow it off. This was for a commercial building that ended up as a water damage inside the building due to the roof leak. We took care of it in a timely manner and the manager was very happy with us.

SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield was called out to a Bio-Hazard/Trauma Clean up here in town about 3 weeks ago. The incident happened inside a garage. Our certified technicians wore their personal protective equipment suit, also known as PPE. The technicians cleaned up the blood that was on the garage concrete floor, bagged it in proper hazard bags and then cleaned the concrete floor with proper chemicals in order to clean off the blood stain that was on the concrete floor. SERVPRO Of NW Bakersfield was called out to perform a board up for this home. Although the homeowner was out of the state at the moment we are still able to work with her regarding this emergency. All we need is her to sign Authorization of Direction of payment to SERVPRO and other documentation that can either be emailed or faxed to the insured and get it back signed before we go out. We will work with you, and are here for you 24 hours a day 7 days a week including all holidays. The structure and roof had collapsed and almost everything inside the house was burned. Technicians set up a gate latch and lock box on door, which that door can be used to have access to the house. Techs boarded up 6 windows and made sure the house was secure before they left. SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield was called out for a water damage. Our technicians met with the owner of the apartments and he stated he had a toilet overflow. The water migrated throughout the apartment affecting two bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, a living room, and hallway. There was no standing water upon arrival. The owner stated he began mopping up the water and stated the water was clean. Performed a moisture inspection in all possible areas that could have been affected by the loss. The rooms  affected have minimum water damage. Technician began taking pictures and marking off areas that are affected. Techs also identified each room with tape and began setting up equipment to start drying process. The owner was happy with the work our technicians performed. Water damage a plumbing company caused in Bakersfield

This is was a water damage in Bakersfield, CA The homeowner called SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield to go out and stated the water intrusion came in from a failed water supply line under the sink in the kitchen. Homeowner stated a plumbing company came out to fix a small leak she had under the sink. Then she woke up at 4:00 AM hearing water then walked into the entire kitchen flooded also the dining room and crawlspace. Pack out crew needed to pack out the entire lower sink cabinet total of 8 boxes. Technicians also had to remove the wet baseboard in the dining room and kitchen.They drilled vent holes in the dining room and kitchen to speed up drying process. Removed drywall in kitchen behind their refrigerator and under the sink, wet insulation was removed off the exterior walls as well. Techs had to detached and reset the stove, also detach and reset the refrigerator in order to be able to remove the affected drywall. After, equipment was set up. After photo when equipment was set up and any wet debris had fallen from the ceiling.

SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield inspected this commercial building on 02/05/19 at 10:45pm. Technicians went out to this water damage to tarp the roof first, because we did not have access to the inside that night, therefore came and set up equipment the next day as per requested by the supervisor of the church. The cause of loss: was the storm damage/ roof leak. Performed moisture detection throughout all areas that could have been affected. The rain/storm caused the roof to leak and affected the inside of the church which did cause some acrostic roof tiles to fall through and have harsh water staining. Technicians removed acrostic roof tiles and wet insulation that where still soaked in order to help drying progress. Water and mold in Shafter, CA

Technicians met with Tony who is the building maintenance rep. He stated that the drain line on the side of the building was clogged and that’s why the water was not able to drain down off the roof of the building. Which is causing it to puddle on the roof and stay there, and eventually became mold growth. SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield was called out to check for any existing water which was found and its way through all the seams and cracks on top of roof.  Water was finding its way through all the seams and cracks on top of roof.  Therefore water intrusion came from roofing causing it to have standing water and causing damage to half of the clinic building. However, we took care of this job in a short period of time. After we completed the work our customer was so grateful and glad he called out SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield.

The insured was so happy with our technicians and the fact that they went late at night to board it up. Also made her feel like the house was secure so people won't be able to break in so easily since there was a lot of valuables in the home that she hadn't have access to yet. This was a commercial job in Bakersfield, CA. We were called directly from the company for a customer of theirs that had bought a mattress off of them that had exploded in the customers room. The good thing was that nobody was hurt while the incident happened. The inside of the mattress had little pieces of fiber glass. When the explosion happened the fiber glass spread throughout the room onto pillows, sheets, comforter, clothes, shoes, walls, carpet and all furniture around the bed. We bagged all affected materials and items then hauled it all off along with the carpet. The commercial company that contacted us was very happy with our work and stated, our staff was very helpful and wonderful to deal with. Our customer called SERVPRO Of NW Bakersfield to go out for an emergency water loss that turned into a mold job and pack-out. Insured stated, she noticed wet carpet in the guest bedroom and guest bedroom’s closet. The contractor stated that the water was coming in from a crack on roof. Our technicians performed a moisture inspection in affected areas and adjacent rooms. Technicians findings were ceiling and walls in guest bedroom and guest bedroom’s closet showed high levels of moisture, also the carpet and pad were affected, therefore necessary materials had to be removed and Equipment was set up to speed up the drying process. The affected areas were anti-microbial sprayed and cleaned up properly. Homeowner was so happy with our work. She even stated, "I liked that your crew was very professional and well done. The hallway bathroom toilet tank water supply line failed. All affected areas had some mold activity growth due to intrusion that was sitting for over 3-5 days which is drying standard time. Homeowner stated they noticed water on the floor, didn't think much of it thinking maybe the kids spilled something. Then they noticed water again, but this time it was coming from dishwasher water supply line affecting kitchen cabinets, linoleum floor, guest bedroom walls, carpet, baseboard and also entry way wall and baseboard, and linoleum floor technician removed 1 lf of baseboard in kitchen, and 2.9 lf of baseboard in entry way. Set up equipment in affected areas to speed up drying process. Also mold was discovered, therefore mold remediation was performed. This photo was an after photo when the mold was removed and professionally cleaned. Homeowner was happy with our emergency service performance and now wants us to do the repairs for them. This is was a toilet overflow in a commercial warehouse. SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield was called out to perform Emergency Services. Upon arrival technician found standing water and by this time boxes and some merchandise for the company had gone wet due to standing water. We were able to save the merchandise. As soon as my technicians arrived they started to extract water in all affected areas. Then cleaned it up with antimicrobial spray to make sure everything was clean and sanitized. This was a water damage at a church in Bakersfield, CA. Cause of loss was the roof drain, which got clogged with debris. We got this job through our existing customer whom had a protein fire at the time with us and is the owner of the church. Our customer told us the situation they had going at the church and needed emergency services performed. Upon technicians arrival they noticed the whole lobby area had high levels of moisture on ceiling, and drywall. The lobby closet ceiling and walls were also affected and an upstairs room, therefore technicians had to set up equipment. All non-damaged items were cleaned and put into a pod. Our crew hepa vacummed all ceilings, walls and contents inside of the home.  Crew detailed cleaned from the ceilings to the flooring.  Both our customers were very impressed with our hard work, that they even gave us homemade chocolates as a appreciation gift. One of the insureds was willing to do a video for our company on YouTube, and to also share on Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn just to show others how glad they were to use SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield to clean up the after math. Wild fires in Santa Rosa

The news called Santa Rosa the most destructive wildfire in California history. The city lost 3,000 homes and the rest were affected by the fires. Our customer was one of the fortunate ones to still have her house standing even though some around her weren't. SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield was called out to help clean up the aftermath. Our crew hepa vacuumed the whole entire house from top to bottom and wet wiped it all, not only that we also detailed cleaned the entire house. After the interior of the home was cleaned our technicians pressured washed the exterior of the home. Our customer was beyond thrilled with our completed work that she even let us do a live video of her expressing how happy she was with us and said, "my house has never been this clean before". The video was even shared on YouTube Santa Rosa Fires.      

Water heater leak in Bakersfield 7/2017

A water heater leak caused insureds home to have excessive water damage. Both insured's stated while they were gone to Texas for a week they arrived at their house at 2am and noticed the water damage. SERVPRO Of NW Bakersfield was called in to perform moisture readings on all affected areas and adjacent rooms. The garage drywall, door trims, insulation, laminate wood floor, pad, and studs were showing high levels of moisture, removed drywall 2ft high and door trims, laminate wood floor along with pad. The same process was for the Living room, Dining room, Utility room and bath. In the Hallway, baseboard, drywall and insulation was affected as well, visible microbial growth was found, removed drywall 3ft high and wood floor. Homeowners were satisfied with our work and the end results that they bought our staff lunch once the repairs were completed. 

Fire Damage in Bakersfield CA

Overview of the fire damage.

The cause of loss for this fire damage was the damper that was not working properly and caused the loss. There was direct damage to the entry and kitchen ceiling as the fire department removed some ceiling drywall. Most of the home is open and the odor/soot affected all rooms in the home. This photo shows the after damage when the fire department put out the fire. SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield was called in to clean up the after math! Technicians monitored and checked the structure for moisture. Then started inventorying all salvageable and non-salvageable items, cleaned and boxed items that were salvageable. All blown in insulation and batts were removed from the attic area. Once everything was completely done our customer was glad with the end results.

Standing water in master bath.

This water damage was due to the master bath toilet tank that cracked and flooded the master bath, master bedroom, hallway upstairs, down stairs affecting ceiling in the dining room, laundry room and hallway downstairs. Technicians had to remove baseboards in all affected areas, also lifted carpet and removed affected pad in the master bedroom. Downstairs hall cabinet was showing high levels of moisture, therefore contents from cabinet were removed. This photo shows some of the mess upon technician’s arrival. SERVPRO of Bakersfield was called in a few months ago to clean up the water damage. Our customer was happy with the way we handled this emergency from beginning to the end and was thrilled with the results he even said "He would put a good review of us on Yelp".

Bakersfield Home and Garden Spring Show 2017

We had the pleasure of participating in our Bakersfield Home and Garden spring show. There was such a turn out! Our marketing crew got the chance to inform those in our community about SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield's services. Even more so, we had the opportunity to meet with the many other vendors and create some new awesome connections. We are so glad to be apart of such an awesome community here in Bakersfield. This was a great experience in a multitude of ways. Thank you to all those that stopped by our booth to say hello and here about our company! Here in Bakersfield, we never really have to worry about to many storms. However, they do still strike! When they do, be prepared. Here are some great tips to help protect your home or building during a storm.

  • Keep flashlights handy with extra batteries
  • Make sure you check the weather to know ahead of time for a potential storm
  • Make sure your cellphone is charged or that you have a charged battery pack. 
  • Store away any items that might blow away or be damaged by wind or rain.
  • Keep away from windows and glass doors in case of strong winds or hail that can break them.
  • Make trees and shrubbery more wind resistant by keeping them trimmed and removing damaged branches.
  • Keep dry foods and water stored in case you are unable to leave your house
  • Avoid taking a shower or bath during a storm 
  • Avoid using things that need electricity

We all know how distracting things can get around the holidays. Especially with family and friends over. However there are some tips to keep in mind that will help keep the holidays safe for everyone. Listed below are some great kitchen tips to remember as you prepare this year. 

-Stay in the kitchen when you are frying,boiling and grilling food. Remember to turn the stove off, even if you leave the room for just a short time.

-Never use a wet oven mitt, this prevents scald danger that can occur if the moisture from the mitt is heated.

-Explain to children to stay at least 3 feet away from the stove and areas where food and drinks are being prepared. 

-Keep anything that can catch fire away from stove tops. Some examples are: potholders, curtains, and towels.

-Always keep a lid and mitt nearby while cooking. Small grease fires can start and the quickest way to put them out is by covering the pan up and turner the burner off.

-Make sure there is a working smoke alarm in the kitchen.

For us here at SERVPRO of NW Bakersfield, 2016 has been amazing. Our company is growing in more ways than one. We are so thankful for all of our employees and our community we get to work with. From our marketing department having their first expo on health and well being to our most recent involvement with the homeless center and food drive, we are excited where we are headed. November Food Drive

November is a great month to remember to be thankful! Here at SERVPRO NW Bakersfield we are very fortunate for our great community and everyone in it. This year we held our first Local Agent Food Drive competition. We took boxes to each insurance office that participated and the goal was whichever agency could donate the most canned and dried goods would win something to benefit their whole team. All the food was donated to our local homeless center. We are so thankful for our community and those who have helped! For our first year, our food drive was a success. We look forward to doing it again next year and hope we can surpass our last amount of donations.

A fire can be devastating to a home and family but there are some prevention tips to always remember. 

- Be prepared: Make sure you have the right number of smoke alarms in your house and test them monthly. 

-Teach your children: It is very important that your children know what a smoke alarm sounds like and its purpose.

-Escape plan: Sit down and go over an evacuation plan with all those in the home

-Practice: Have a fire drill twice a year

-STOP, DROP and ROLL: Teach your family how to use this method if their clothes were to be on fire.

-911: Make sure everyone in the house knows how to call 911
